We’ve covered quite a few events already this year at Generator Power but the Yorkshire leg of the Tour de France will stick with us for quite some time.
As you might know, some of our staff members are passionate cyclists and they regularly compete in charity bike rides in aid of Cancer Research, so it was a genuine pleasure to support the Tour de France throughout various Yorkshire regions recently.
Our standby generators were placed at strategic points in Harrogate, York, Leeds and Sheffield, they provided back up for the local sub stations, they were primed and ready for action in the event of an emergency.
Not only that, we left two engineers on site at each location, they stayed overnight in local hotels and had a great view of the race, you can imagine how happy they were!
Emergency power wasn’t required in the end, there were no reported incidents of power outages and Yorkshire coped admirably over the entire event.
Still, it was nice to be there to show our support, had there been any power issues you can bet our generators would have saved the day!
It was an honour to be part of the 3.5 million crowd (yes it really was that many!) that flocked to Yorkshire for the tour’s opening stages and it was a genuine pleasure to see the peloton streak past.
We’re bike mad anyway and are happy to support any kind of sporting event so roll on the 2015 tour we say…
