They say no news is good news but how can that be? Surely it’s better to get your name in lights, receive some kind of exposure and have your business mentioned in a well-respected industry publication if you want to achieve success in your choice of trade?
That’s what happened to us recently at Generator Power. We’ve just received some brilliant exposure in this month’s publication of Executive Hire News and boy, do we feel proud.
This is the must-read magazine for anyone involved in the hire industry, it provides a self-proclaimed passionate voice and we look forward to their regular features, news and articles of interest, they have a knack for addressing the key issues relating to hirers, with a strong emphasis on health and safety.
Executive Hire News is a credible resource known for integrity, independence, relevance and reach. It’s a free online publication available to download to anyone with management responsibility within the tools, plant and equipment hire industry.
We read every issue and this month we have a special interest in the magazine because we are featured in a lovely article (yes we’re biased) written by Alan Guthrie aptly entitled ‘Powerful Performance’ which sums up our business nicely.
Our MD Steve Cardwell features heavily throughout the feature and he explains how he founded the business in Leeds back in 1997, having held previous sales and management positions with other power generation hire companies.
Here’s a brief snapshot of what Steve had to say:
“I saw an opportunity to start my own business, and it took me two years to raise the necessary finance for an initial fleet of 42 generators, which I calculated was the optimal starting level. Originally, the staff comprised just me and a fitter, but we quickly outgrew the premises and moved to Normanton in 1999.”
Times have certainly changed for Generator Power. Over the years we have continued to grow, added to our fleet and improved our customer service levels. Today we now occupy four large units on the Normanton estate, covering 25,000ft sq on a three-acre plot and our annual turnover in 2014 was £23.4m which was a significant improvement from £18m the previous year.
The success of the business is in no part due to our excellent reliability record. This is achieved with a fleet of Atlas Copco generators which currently stands at more than 1,200 machines. Atlas Copcos are ultra reliable, extremely quiet and they have low emission levels too. They’re also fuel-efficient, so they help our customers save money on long or short-term generator hire, which makes everybody happy!
It’s nice to read positive news about your business and we’re rather proud of the article that features Generator Power in the latest edition of Executive Hire News. If you get the chance have a read, you’ll learn we now employ over 140 staff, half of which are based at the company HQ and the rest at other key locations around the county including Warrington, Bowburn, Kendal and Hitchin, Port Talbot and Shotts in Scotland.
And don’t forget. Should you require emergency power, generator hire, powersafe or fuel management services you can always contact us and speak to a member of the team.
