On Sunday 7th May 2017, The Fred Whitton Challenge took place in Cumbria. This major event sees participants cycling 112 miles around the Lake District, starting and finishing in Grasmere.
Held in memory of Fred Whitton, a popular member of the Lakes Road Club, the purpose of The Fred Whitton Challenge is to bring cyclists from across the UK together to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, The Duddon and Furness Mountain Rescue Team and The North West Air Ambulance.
For the past two years, Generator Power have been involved in The Fred by sponsoring the event.
Each year, we have provided a generator, free of charge, to power the start and finish area at Grasmere Sports Ground; this year supplying an Atlas Copco QAS 60 generator.
On top of raising a total of £1 million, event organiser, Paul Loftus was honoured with an MBE last year for his efforts. Continuously proving to be incredibly successful in raising money for these great charities, we’re very proud to be sponsors of The Fred Whitton Challenge.
