“The collaboration between Generator Power, R N Golden and SM UK Van Conversions marks a significant landmark in providing robust, versatile solutions for generator engineers.”
-Martin Sinar, Vehicle Fleet Manager at Generator Power
At Generator Power, we’re committed to continuously enhancing our operations by investing in high-performance engineer vehicles. Our latest fleet upgrade sees the introduction of a new batch of customised Isuzu D-Max vehicles—each one tailored to support the vital work of our engineers out in the field.
A Growing Partnership with R N Golden
With a proud 50-year legacy, R N Golden is a family-owned car dealership in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. Specialising in Hyundai and Isuzu, they’ve been serving communities across West Yorkshire and Greater Manchester—including Wakefield, Brighouse, Holmfirth, and beyond.
In partnership with R N Golden, a trusted supplier of Isuzu and Hyundai vehicles, Generator Power began adding Isuzu vehicles to our fleet in August 2024. Since then, we’ve successfully integrated over 30 new units across various departments, including:
-
3 × Isuzu V-Cross
-
10 × Isuzu D-Max DL20
-
10 × Isuzu D-Max Utility (customised by SM UK)
-
4 × Isuzu D-Max Single Cab Utility (customised by MIS Conversions)
This expansion ensures our engineers are equipped with durable, capable vehicles built to perform in challenging environments.
Specialist Conversions by SM UK
SM UK are specialists in vehicle modifications, having built a strong reputation over the past 20 years with HGV’s and moving into creating bespoke racking, lighting, and safety solutions for vans in 2019. For this project, they’ve taken on the task of converting 10 of our new Isuzu D-Max double cab pick-ups, which will be used by our field engineers. Each vehicle has been fitted with a 1000W inverter and undergone a full load bed conversion, creating integrated storage, a mobile workstation, and enhanced lighting both inside and out.
Pick-up trucks are not typically found in SM UK’s workshop, as their primary focus has been on vans and HGVs. However, they’ve shown a strong understanding of the day-to-day demands our engineers face, along with the practical kit required to support them in the field. Through this project, SM UK demonstrated that the vehicle platform—regardless of make or model—is no barrier to delivering smart, customised solutions that meet a detailed brief. After exploring several potential configurations, the final design was refined through hands-on experimentation and is shown in the accompanying images.
The newly installed storage solutions allow engineers to organise tools, cables, and parts efficiently, creating a cleaner and more practical working environment on-site. The added lighting inside the load bed, as well as on the roof and underside of the vehicle, ensures our teams can operate safely and effectively in low-light or remote conditions. With a 2-gang socket and 1000W inverter included, power is also available wherever the job takes them.
