On a Bank Holiday Saturday afternoon, we received a call from a customer who needed two 1250kVA synchronised generators, tanks and cables on site in central London, as well as an engineer to help install the generators, following an emergency.
Why they needed us
The customer’s problems started when a pipe burst on site, allowing water to flow onto a switch panel. This caused the panel to catch fire, and the customer had to turn off the mains power supply as it was deemed unsafe.
This shut off the power supply to local houses, cafes, shops, a hotel and a nearby shopping centre, meaning that a temporary power solution was needed on site urgently.
How Did We Respond?
After looking at the available stock in our Reading Depot, we were able to offer the customer all of the equipment required, and our fuel management service, within a 2 – 4 hour response time.
Our customer requested that we delivered the equipment at 12pm the following day to allow them time to prepare the site and lay cables. The equipment was all delivered to the London site on time, and an engineer was despatched to assist with the installation.
The customer had a fully operational system running shortly after we arrived on site, and we have continued working with them to arrange servicing at times where they are least at risk. In servicing the generators, we ensure that only one is shut down at any given time to avoid any power loss to the site and nearby buildings.
Our engineers have continued to provide 24 hour support, 7 days a week, to ensure that we are always here in case of a breakdown, or if any further assistance is needed.
Have You Had a Similar Emergency?
If you’ve experienced a similar problem with your power supply, regardless of the time of day, don’t hesitate to give us a call, and we’ll be more than happy to help.
